Frasers Property Thailand and Central Watson inked a long-term lease agreement to develop a modern warehouse in Khon Kaen, logistics center of Isan region

BANGKOK, 25 JUNE 2020

Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company Limited (“FPT”), a leading provider of integrated real estate platform, recently entered into an agreement with Central Watson Company Limited (“Central Watson”), the operator of Watsons’ health and beauty stores, to develop its first modern distribution center in Khon Kaen province.

To support Central Watson’s rapidly growing stores in Thailand every year and its expansion of e-commerce platform, FPT will develop a modern distribution center which caters to modern trade business. The distribution center will be located in the current FPT’s Khon Kaen logistics park project, strategically situated on Mitrapap Highway No. 2 close to Amphoe Muang of Khon Kaen province. An establishment of this regional distribution center (RDC) allows Central Watson to strengthen their supply chain and logistics management efficiency while minimising the cost of operation in their focused markets of the North-Eastern region. In addition to Central Watson’s existing distribution center in FPT’s Bangplee cluster, this RDC will increase Central Watson’ operational capabilities with faster delivery to their online shoppers. Upon the completion of this RDC, the total area leased under FPT will be over 21,000 sqm.

With the total built area over 9,000 sq.m., this new warehouse not only has an ability to serve the customer’s current requirement but also for their future expansion. It is built with an astute design for effective warehousing and distribution such as installation of loading bays and dock levellers, and floor load capacity of 3 tons per sq.m. In addition, considering all aspects of quality, this warehouse was designed and built according to building codes and safety standards which are equivalent to international quality. Central Watson’s distribution center is expected to complete by first half of year 2021.

This warehouse has set a goal of achieving the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a global rating system for building sustainability. From design and construction based on green building policy to strictly reduce environmental footprint and maximize people well-being, the project will be able to introduce its expanding sustainable initiatives to benefit all building users and reduce environmental impact.
